Moraira is a magical beachside town just a short distance south of Javea on the coast of the northern Costa Blanca. It is approximately a 30-minute drive from Benidorm to the south.
Moraira was a thriving fishing village, but over time, it has changed into a high-end holiday destination; somehow, it manages to cater perfectly to the tourism industry, with high-end luxury villas and apartments whilst retaining much of the charm which has long attracted visitors and ex-pat residents.
Moraira is blessed with a wide selection of stylish cafés within its pleasant streets.
For authentic Spanish dishes, why not visit Las Gaviotas in the square opposite the church.
The main fish restaurants are located on the front, overlooking the small port and fish market (La Lonja), where fish auctions take place every morning at 10am except Sundays, they are well worth seeing!
Platja de l’Ampolla is Moraira’s main beach, and is within comfortable walking distance of the centre, just 500m from the fish market.
Another fantastic beach, is Platja del Portet, 1.5km north of the centre; this is the most chilled-out spot you could ever wish for, with golden sand, turquoise waters, and a few little café bars overlooking the beach.
Beaches immediately south of Moraira are rocky rather than sandy but are excellent for snorkelling, there are some great walking trails too.
For more information on the many attractions and activities Moraira has to offer, visit the tourist information on the outskirts of Moraira who will give you a handy map of the area.
Like Denia and Javea, Moraira does not have many hotels, but there are plenty of apartment blocks and independent luxury villas nearby.
In fact, some of the residential villas near Platja del Portet are amongst the most luxurious in Spain.
